OK, here it is. A Tribes first. Using our wood hoop technology we have designed a cocktail drum with some new and unique features for the percussionist or any drummer looking for an easily portable cocktail kit. The snare drum is a real, tunable, detachable snare drum. And its isolated from the kick drum by a baffle so the kick drum doesnt make it speak. The wood hoops lend a variety of rim click and rim shot sounds. Choose from the same extensive list of custom finishes as our drum sets, all at competitive prices.
These beautiful snares are examples of our Natural Custom Finish. The satin finish shows off the grain of the wood, giving the drums a hand-rubbed look and also produces a slightly broader tonal spectrum than the heavier finishes. We can accent the natural beauty of maple shells with your favorite color!
two new snares
To the far left is our "420" Snare: a hemp paper wrap topped with a heavy dose of clear coat. The middle drum was stained purple then hit with a couple coats of Candy Plum. This Custom Finish was created for the University of Colorado Jazz Band who got two of our first couple of kits. On the right is a Natural Custom in a honey stained satin finish.

At Tribes we love the vintage-style
wraps! In fact, we have a broad selection of not only vintage style wraps, but also the more modern custom wraps chosen to suit any drummer's taste. You'll be amazed at the range of artistic possibilities available with our custom laminated shell coverings!

Jeff's kit......it's a twinkly pearlescent semi thru-grain custom mixed kandy yellow.
Tasteful & eloquent
Here's a Custom Finish drum kit: the "da Vinci." The base color on these drums was laid down by Fritz. Then the artwork was hand painted by Robert Sweeney, a gifted artist from Colorado Springs. Afterwards, Fritz applied the high gloss top coats and buffed them to a glasslike shine. When we tell you, "anything goes," we mean it! So what can you dream up for your new drum set?

New for '99 was our wooden hoop, no-drill suspended snare design. The suspended design allows these drums to resonate more freely than any snare you've ever heard, and the wood hoops give them a rim shot knock that has to be experienced first hand.
